No human has ever returned from the Void, but as an inquisitor of the Church of Luminance, it is Luthan’s duty to witness those who try.
Anders Prescott has developed a machine that he believes will allow this latest attempt to succeed where all others have failed, one that is designed to defend against the nightmarish creatures that call the darkness home. As this expedition prepares to set out, Luthan receives shocking new orders from the Church: that he is to join the expedition, and venture into the land beyond the reach of light. And though the inquisitor fears their journey suicidal, a voice in his dreams has been calling to him, drawing him to the abyssal darkness.
Together they face the terrors of the Void as Prescott’s machine is beset on all sides by monsters, and Luthan faces the possibility that the voice he hears in his dreams may be something far more sinister than it seems.

A massive stone tablet is unearthed, bearing an inscription in a language unlike anything that history has seen before. Scholars and researchers cross the world to study the monolith, but none can crack the mystery. And the longer they spend in the presence of the stone, the more they begin to experience strange dreams, and vivid hallucinations.
